Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can manifest in a variety of ways and with different intensities for each individual. Some children show early signs of autism in infancy, such as limited eye contact or not responding to their names. For others, symptoms may develop later and can include resistance to cuddling, language difficulties, lack of facial expressions, repetitive behaviors, and social challenges. Additionally, the diagnosis can be complicated by the fact that some children with autism may have lower intelligence and face learning difficulties, while others may have extraordinary abilities. Fortunately, our therapists are experienced in the diverse presentations of this neurodiverse condition and are adept at recognizing the specific challenges you or your child may face. We focus on highlighting the strengths of our clients with ASD and view the diagnosis through the lens of difference rather than deficiency. Consequently, we present our behavioral and social skills tools as optional resources rather than obligatory treatments aimed at making certain aspects of navigating a neurotypical world easier. Our mission is to support you or your child in enhancing well-being and quality of life based on empathy, understanding, and respect.
